today

Feeling better again today - nearly thrown off the dreaded lurgy, thank goodness. Today started off with a bowl of porridge and a new book to flick through:

breakfast

The porridge was much anticipated - the mornings are getting colder and there’s nothing like a bowl of porridge, loads of brown sugar and milk. Porridge and winter mornings go together - I have happy childhood memories of stirring the porridge on the stove top for mum and delighting in the bubbles popping when it started to boil.

Unfortunately this morning I was too impatient to cook it properly on the stovetop and thought I would follow the directions on the box for microwaving. I followed the times they gave but it must have gotten too hot because when I opened the door, it had exploded all over the place. I was not happy. Tomorrow I will do the old fashioned stovetop method and enjoy the slowing down, the stirring and watching it thicken up.

The book above is one I bought yesterday afternoon - it’s called Embellish Your T-shirt and it looks pretty good. Not just the usual cut-your-tee-up books that have been out for a while, but more about adding things like ribbon, paint, transfers and so on. I will post some pics from it tomorrow. It’s good timing because I applied to take the pledge today.

After my porridge, I got some paperwork and financial records organised to give to my mum, who also doubles as my bookkeeper (thanks Mum!) and then got busy on a wholesale bag order that was giving me guilt while I was off sick for the last week. I cut all the fabric, ribbon and interfacing pieces out and got everything ready last night and then sewed all the bags up today.

Tomorrow I will be working on a prototype nappy bag that has been commissioned by a new friend for her new business. I’m looking forward to getting all caught up so that I can work on the other things I am itching to get to.

I read a few blogs by people living in the southern hemisphere, and I am always so jealous, because I loooove the cooler weather- here it is hot and getting hotter. *sigh*
