same same but different

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums who do such a great job! I am still suffering with a dragging-on cold and cough thing and my husband is away right now so not a day that was especially special for me, but that’s okay, I can have a catch up special day when I am feeling a bit better.  The kids were great this morning though, the two little ones so excited to be yelling about Mother’s Day at some ungodly hour and thrusting chocolates and lovingly made wonky things at me. It’s a pity I was feeling so terrible, but it still warmed my heart.
Sam (14) has been helping out so much these last few days, making sure the kids are fed and watered and breaking up arguments and sorting DVDs out so that I can lay around and feel miserable or snuggle up for some well-needed rest. It’s great that even with me sick and their Dad away, everything pretty much still goes along. Sure the place is a mess and the cupboards need a bit of refilling, and we have certainly not been eating so healthily lately but those things don’t matter, at least not for a few days. As long as the kids are happy and not squabbling too loud, that’s about all that matters when you are sick.
On a crafty note, I was pleased to see that Nikki had made the same shirt that I recently made. It is Burda 8516, but it is also available to download and print off at home. I really love to see the same pattern made up in different fabrics and different ways - same same but different.
