Today I got started in my art journal while it was still daylight, rather than wait until the end of the night to think about it. I took my art journal, some pens and watercolour wands and my new birthday book ( Visual Chronicles ) to bed this afternoon to have a read and be ready when inspiration struck. I am up to the part about journalling - writing and making things come alive. It’s such a good book.
I started with “Relax and Enjoy” because I knew it would do no good to get anxious about it all and second guess myself before I had even started. I enjoy handwritten titles like this and I want to do more of it.Â

I was wondering what to do for the page on the right side when Emma came up onto the bed to see what I was up to and stuck her big foot on the page, laughing and trying to annoy me. “Wait! Stay there!” I said and got my pen and drew around her foot and then around my hand.Â
Suddenly, I had my subject! Then Jack came along and (of course) volunteered his foot and then Paul put his hand out to be drawn as well. Sam wasn’t home at the time, but let’s just say that I would have needed a bigger book to trace around his gigantic foot.Â
