Pillowcase Dress updated
I have finally updated the original Pillowcase Dress Instructions that I put up about 18 months ago. At the time, I was really only posting it because I knew a lot of people were searching for this and to keep it “bookmarked” for myself, to make me get around to trying it out.
Can you believe today I finally made not one, but two pillowcase dresses and yes, they are supercute and supereasy.
Please check out the original post (that I have now updated with new photos and instructions) to learn how to make this easy peasy dress from a thrifted pillowcase.
And it’s no coincidence that tomorrow, I am teaching a bunch of women from my Brindabella Women’s Group how to make this dress! If you’re in Canberra, then come along!

Jen - These look AMAZING. I love the floral! I never imagined it would look so good! Can’t wait to see how the session went today! Well done!
I submitted similar instruction several months ago, but elastic is run through the casing, then sew ends of elastic and slide the elastic back under the casing where it can’t be seen - then you can add or subtract any kind or width or number of ribbons to decorate - you can still push the casing back some and the ribbons will cover elastic - or have the ends of each casing meet and add elastic. I have also done the elastic as you have, two separate pieces, then sewed the ribbons to each of the four ends, or on one I used snaps. I am glad you enjoyed making these and they look terrific.

I love this dress. Finally I found a dress that I can make for my almost 5 yearls old daughter.

I saw a little girl in Target the other day with the cutest little pillowcase dress on. I immediately wanted to make one for my little girl (also Emma). Thank you for the great and easy instructions.
