Papercrafting and friendship

Today was my friend Nicole’s birthday. She doesn’t have a blog so I can’t link to her - actually I had to explain to her what a blog is. Nicole is a new friend and I’m so glad we met. This is a photo of her and her gorgeous little boy, Mani.
Nicole and Mani

It was a chance meeting - we got chatting at the little playground at our local shops a few months ago and found that we got along and our kids got along. We even discovered that we went to the same school and that she was in my sister’s year - one year above me. She told me that she had moved away from Canberra soon after leaving school and had lived in Sydney for many years and had only just moved back to Canberra. We decided to swap numbers - I never do things like this but I know how I felt when I moved back to Canberra from Sydney a few years back and I wanted to extend the hand of friendship. To be honest, I needed a friend too as I hadn’t really found a bosom buddy here - it is hard when you are at home with the kids so much.

Anyhow I’m glad we did take that chance because now we see each other at least once every week. She has become such a good friend, and we are both enjoying learning the story of each other’s lives and finding out more about the other person. It’s great to find someone that you can really connect with, and they live very close by and the kids love each other too. Happy Birthday Nicole!

I made this birthday card for Nicole today. I was so pleased with it and she loved it too. It was a combination of ripping papers, glueing, stamping, painting, dry brush painting, sanding and inking and I pretty much just made it up as I went along.

I decided to make the inside of the card tie in with the outside. The fishies are because her star sign is Pisces. I also bought her some lovely orange Gerberas.

Jack’s 5th Birthday is on Thursday! I think I feel the urge to tell his birth story - what do you think? Would you like to hear it? No gory bits I promise.

I did this cool party invitation for Jack’s little friends on the computer yesterday.

Beautiful card, really nice colours and textures, and I love the invitation, it often amazes me how great things can turn out just using different fonts (no images) - really great combination. Well done on both!
