Mathilda’s Market today
Today was Mathilda’s Market - a new market to Canberra (today was the second time) and I went along to take a few photos.
I didn’t have a stall there today and I won’t be having a stall at next weekend’s Handmade Market either. I am hoping to have another stallholder take a few of my Red Instead things and sell them on my behalf though - I will let you know here on the blog if that is or isn’t going to happen. I have more news to share about all of that, later during the week, so sit tight. In the meantime, let’s see these photos from today’s market at Manuka:
Above you can see my good friend Bek and her Creations to Cherish stall - she does the most wonderful art pieces and today I bought one! I love it so much but it’s for a Christmas present, so I can’t show it to you here because I know the person reads this blog. (Yes, it’s YOU Yvette!) Bek will be at Handmade next weekend with all her beautiful pieces or you can buy some of them online too. Check her blog for details and to see her creative process.
There were 30 stalls there today (up from 20 last market back in April) and loads of shoppers. The room was pretty cramped but they are moving to bigger digs from next year onwards so I am sure this market will grow. You can see the stallholders and links to their sites at the Mathilda’s website. So great to see so much talent here in Canberra!
This is Jennie and one of her daughters - her stall, Posie Patchwork, was against the bright window and always crammed with people, so I didn’t get any good photos of what she sells but you can see her gorgeous things at her website.
Today I went along to socialise and to support the crafters, but I also wanted to have a quick practice run with my camera. I recently got a new flash unit for my camera and I’m still getting used to it The bright windows and the sunny day made photo-taking difficult too. I was a bit rushed and I brought Emma (6) along with me today so I always had to be thinking of where she was so I didn’t take too many shots today.
Next Friday night, I will be taking loads of photos at Handmade for Julie and I am going to get there early to get organised and take some practice shots to get everything right. I also want to take a few shots of stallholders setting up before the market opens, in the quiet chaos before the doors open and the people swarm in. See you there!

I enjoyed your blog very much. There is so much to see, I will be coming back. Have a great weekend. Debbie
