Lovely Links for Friday

written by Jen on Friday, February 3, 2006No Comment

I have really been enjoying reading Design*Sponge - there’s always so many pretty pictures and Grace finds the most amazing things for us all to check out. I really love it and really really recommend it!

Another one that you may not be familiar with is Fashion Incubator, a site that has so much great information on the apparel industry. Kathleen is a professional pattern maker and author of a book (which I haven’t read) on the industry. Just for an idea of what to expect, here are the titles of some of her most recent posts: Analyzing sales by size, How to make a line sheet, Sending patterns off for correction, Piece rate is good, Designer’s guide to a business plan. Fascinating reading if you are at all interested in the rag trade.

Fives Sixes and Sevens 5

And one you have probably heard of: 52 Projects - the website of the book, which I also haven’t read! I must get this book though as it sounds really fantastic.

Here is the blurb: 52 Projects is an exploration of your creativity — from the culinary to the literary to the artistic. A way of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, and finding a flash of inspiration in our everyday lives. And here are more compelling reasons to buy the book. And our own Claire from Looby Lu has her post about the book linked from the site.

Even if, like me, you haven’t seen the book, the 52 Projects website is a great one to check regularly as readers of the book contribute their own ideas for creative projects to change your life, or change your day in the What’s Your Project section of the site.
