It’s fun to go to School (but a bit sad for Mum)
Hi! Are you a new or recent visitor to my blog? I hope you stick around and have a bit of a read. To make it easier to keep up to date with new content, please subscribe to my RSS feed. Of course, feedback is always appreciated and leaving a comment is a great way for me to come and check out your site.
My son Jack starts school tomorrow. I have been going to write a blog entry about it for days now but I just sort of couldn’t quite do it. I’m not sure I can now either. It will either be short and sweet or I will go on for hours, all emotional and silly. So I think the shorter (suppressed!) version might be better, but we’ll see how it turns out.
I feel teary just sitting here thinking about what to write and how I feel about it. I have just I just uploaded a whole lot of pictures from a book of mine called “It’s fun to go to school” which was given to me when I started school in 1975.
It has the best illustrations and the story is so sweet too. I just typed the story in to go with the flickr photos and I was getting all sniffly just thinking about all the things Jack will be doing without me. This really will be the first year that he starts to pull away and do his own thing.
I never thought I’d be the sort to cry and carry on when my child started school. When Sam (my stepson) started school it was certainly a big milestone but I didn’t get all choked up. Mind you, I had only been on the scene with his dad and him for less than a year.
As the day gets closer I have had to stop myself thinking about Jack going off to school as I keep getting emotional about it. It is a big step for a little boy. I know he is going to just LOVE it and I am so proud of him. I don’t think I should go on any more but I will post a few of the pics from the book for you:
Click here to see scans of all of the pages from the book, with text - it’s really worth it!
And yes, there will be photos of the big school boy tomorrow!

Good Luck Jack!! Have a great day!
Hold on Mum, it’ll be a bit weird for a while, not having your little cutie around all day - geez I know I would miss my girl so so much. I think it is usually a bigger day for the mums, in a way.
Hope everything goes well for both your “first” days.
