I used to make things
I used to make things. I used to photograph things that I had made and blog about them. Now? I have good intentions and bad self-discipline. I am working nearly full time now and life is a lot fuller, pushing out time for crafting and making and photographing and blogging. I still write blog posts in my head sometimes, not nearly as often as I used to. I don’t read my bloglines nearly as often as I used to and I don’t read magazines nearly as often as I used to. I have good intentions with a TV-and-blankie-on-the-couch habit.
I will get back to it. It’s me. It’s what I do and what I think of me as doing. It’s who I think I am. It’s who you think I am. It is me, and that me will come out to play again. I have the best jam-packed studio with fabric and patterns and art materials by the bucketload. I have a huge stack of magazines on my bedside table and lots of crafty podcasts loaded onto my player.
I have a dusty old blog and a head full of good intentions. I have this blog post. There will be more.

You have moved on with your life now…you have to let go of the past and save all your dreams, ideas and ambitions for when you retire at old age and then hope you have the time then to do all you want to do.
you are entitled to blog in your head. i too know to do that. the only time i get to do anything crafty is at night but usually the price it too high for that. a mom needs her sleep.
now i am off to check out your pillowcase dress from long ago. thanks.

Oh, I am with you! Looking for moments to make something I can hold in my hands.
And, for the record, I think blogging in your head counts (I do it all the time). Except I think of it more as an unwritten diary, which is just as real and good as a blog can be.
You’ll get back to the doing and the writing eventually, and in the meantime, nurturing ambitious thoughts is a good and healthy thing.

Once I start my homeschool year, I have to shelf the projects until break. It’s hard, I know. Your family must need you to work or you wouldn’t be doing it. It’s a blessing to have useful work, isn’t it? I learned to take up knitting because it was more portable than a sewing machine.
