green shirt

Look! Another post - and it’s even about sewing! I made a shirt yesterday and finished it off (buttons and button holes) today. I used New Look 6407. I want to make a work shirt (or two) using the 3/4 sleeve version of this pattern, with the shirt collar but to check the fit and pattern I made a more casual shirt using some green stash cotton.

It went together quite easily. It is a very bright spring green but luckily enough I love green! Maybe we will have a few more warm days to wear it before Autumn and Winter set in.

I have to say that I am looking a bit slim in this photo (and in real life too!) and I am very proud of myself. Those jeans were an op shop find - I didn’t even bother to try them on and when I got home I found that they fit perfectly! I have had a few compliments while wearing them. YAY me! I think I have a right to feel proud of myself and what’s wrong with saying it out loud? Or on my blog for that matter. All that hard work at the gym is paying off. I know I need to lose some more (I want a flatter tummy in particular) but I am very happy with the results so far.

This photo shows the embroidered flowers on the fabric. I used white thread to topstitch and added a subtle variety of buttons for a bit of fun and interest! It amuses me anyway, even if hardly anybody else notices as I’m wearing it.

Finishing up with some best friends - Emma and Elsie.  Oh, and Happy Chocolate Day to you!

Hey, that’s the shirt I’m making now! Well, sort of. I’m using the same pattern, but making the short-sleeved version with the sleeve cutouts and ties. So far, I’m liking this pattern, so we’ll see how I feel when it’s on me. Yours looks really nice, and it does look very slimming on you too!

Your shirt looks great. I am jealous that you can whip together something so fast. Also, you look wonderful, even before you mentioned the weight loss I thought you looked great in the pictures. It sounds like you feel great too, which really is the most important thing, kudos!
