Getting Arty…

I am a little behind on posts for the week… seems to be happening a lot lately! Anyway, last Tuesday I did some pencil drawings. I really enjoyed doing these. I must get out my pencils more often I think.
This first one is a banana (you probably knew that already huh?) and I first traced around a real banana to get the right outline shape and then looked at it very closely to try to get the colours and lines and things right. The background I just did with a few bright colours in pencil and then I used a baby wipe to smoosh it all around and smudge it up a bit. Who needs watercolour pencils?
This one above was inspired by a nature and was done while listening to someone talk to our group on Tuesday. And I did another similar exercise on a whole page here:
I think this one (above) might be cropping up somewhere… maybe a lino cut or a gocco print?
Silk Painting! A new thing for me. I did this as part of a three lesson session courtesy of the Brindabella Women’s Group (here in Canberra) and it was quite enjoyable. It’s always fun to try new things and it was so great to see the image come alive with colour. I am going to frame this and hang it in Emma’s room.

That print would make an excellent tea towel or the basis for a bag…
