Collage Crazy

Hi! Are you a new or recent visitor to my blog? I hope you stick around and have a bit of a read. To make it easier to keep up to date with new content, please subscribe to my RSS feed. Of course, feedback is always appreciated and leaving a comment is a great way for me to come and check out your site.

I told you I was busy last night.  In between doing my lino printing and my Gocco printing I got started on my first ever collage.

I know, I am on fire!  Talk about using what you have (stash busting for April - read about it here and here).

Anyway back to me.  It’s all about me you know.  So, after my lino print I realised that I had put too much of the orange lino print ink on the plastic - I needed to use it up somehow!  So I hunted around and found a big piece of cardboard that I thought would be a great base for my first ever collage!  So I began by painting bits of it orange.

Then I had to wait for it to dry - what a drag - which is when I busted out the Gocco.  This morning when I got up I was happy to see a million Gocco prints all over the place and I also saw a lovely orange canvas ready for some glue.  So I got my pile of papers and things that I had scrounged and collected and sorted the other night and I got some “decoupage paste” that I had left over from a decoupage class I did about 14 years ago (!) and I got stuck in.

So that is where it is up to now.  I don’t think it’s finished yet.  I don’t think I am finished with it anyhow.  I thought I would let it dry and look at it every so often and think about how it could take shape and then come back to it in a day or two.

I have ideas for grunging it up a bit.  There are some rubber stamping / altered art techniques that I have been reading about that I would like to try.  If you have any ideas then I would love to hear them!  :)

Just a thought. What are you going to name your collage? Would be interesting to see how it will turn up when you finished with it. Or will you? And when will you know that it’s done - completed?

I too have a gocco print. You have inspired me to bring it out of my store-room.
