Hi! Are you a new or recent visitor to my blog? I hope you stick around and have a bit of a read. To make it easier to keep up to date with new content, please subscribe to my RSS feed. Today I made another two collages. They are available to buy at www.redinstead.com.au, of course!

I like the second one best. What do you think?

Birds and Fish

I did another two canvases today. This first one is called “Lost at Sea” and it tells the story of a fisherman who was never found. So sad…

This next one is called “Urban Birds” and I am really very happy with this one too. A good day for art!

Before I started I sewed up a quick “art apron” using some bright green tea towels I bought a while ago with the intended use of making something of them! Finally, a use for them. I sewed a strip of three black and white fabrics at the waist to jazz it up a bit. I will probably end up adding pockets but I was in a rush to get started on my art today. It already has a few stains and marks on it which is a shame but at least my clothes stayed clean! Do you like my pink slippers? oops!

ps. The above two art collage pieces are available to buy over at www.redinstead.com.au.  Just saying, y’know.
Paint, paper, ink, pencil, marking pen. Both on 10 x 12″ canvas with sawtooth hook mounted on reverse side, ready to hang.

birdy art

It’s been a long time since I’ve done any art or collage. I have been feeling the need to get out the paints and stamps again lately and I’ve been getting in the mood by reading (or re-reading) some great books and magazines on the subject.

Then yesterday I took a deep breath and got started. I ended up doing two canvases!

Paint, paper, ink, pencil, marking pen. One on 9 x 12″ and one on 10 x 12″ canvas with sawtooth hook mounted on reverse side, ready to hang.

It was fun and I think my style and technique has improved since I last had a go at collage. What do you think?

vintage wallpaper packs!

Thanks so much to everyone who sent in a comment for my blogiversay giveaway - I’m so sorry it took me this long to get organised!  I would like to announce that the winner of the vintage wallpaper pack is… Vicki from Turkey Feathers.  Please send me your address Vicki so I can mail your pack out to you.

Here are the “Pretty Paper Packs” that I made up - of course, one is off to Vicki and the others will be going to my market stall.  If you would like one, please let me know in the comments.  They are US$10.  They may also appear at my online store soon too.

Look at what my friend Jess made, after hearing some ideas at my recent Brindabella session on op shop refashioning:

She took an op shop singlet top and sewed up the bottom, then added trim and decorations and now she has a shopping bag!  The bag even folds up into the denim pocket!  Go Jess!
