blue moon

written by Jen on Sunday, July 1, 20072 Comments

Last night was a blue moon. I was able to loudly proclaim “We only EVER get to go out on a date night once in a blue moon!” and it was true. Paul and I got to have some quality “couple time” thanks to my parents looking after the kids all night. In fact, we did a House Swap. This was the best idea. My parents stayed at our house (with the kids) and Paul and I stayed at my parents’ house for the night. If you just squinted a little, it was like we were staying at a lovely hotel for the night.

We went out for a few drinks, dinner and a movie. Dinner was lovely - an excellent Thai place in Woden. Unfortunately there wasn’t much on at the movies but we weren’t going to pass up the chance. We ended up seeing the new Fantastic Four movie - Rise of the Silver Surfer. It was okay, entertaining and fun. Just like a real hotel we had to “checkout” at 10am so (of course) we skipped breakfast in favour of a sleep in!

I have to say here that I didn’t mean to take that little unauthorised blog break. I didn’t realise it had been a week! Oh well, I think it you can’t be bothered then sometimes you should just go with that and have a break! I have been getting trapped in the Bloglines Zone - reading way too many blogs and never being able to catch up or keep up. As soon as I turn around another bunch of updates appear!

I have been slack about blogging but I have been doing stuff. On Tuesday I ran another sewing session for my group, Brindabella Women’s Group. They wanted a rerun of a class I did last year on bag making. It went really well. The two hours just wasn’t enough for everyone to finish so we are going to continue this Tuesday. Hopefully there will be some time to show them how to make a simple fabric belt too. I am running two more classes next term - “Getting to Know Your Inner Geek Girl” and “Making Pillowcase Dresses”.

I have done a little refashioning too. Similar to my grey striped top of a couple of weeks ago, I just added some long black ribbing to this 3/4 sleeve t-shirt to make it more suitable for our cold days. Black and white stripes can go funny when you try to photograph them. You can see the stripes a little better here.

Emma and I have been having some fun with the 10 second delay timer on my camera.

We enjoyed posing in the hallway, with the camera resting on my cutting table. She loved it - shouting “Can I see? Can I see?” every time the camera went off.

Can you see me wearing my new cute-as-pie red shoes? How could I resist them?

I’m feeling refreshed after my blogbreak, looking forward to a roast lamb dinner tonight (cooked by my lovely husband) and thinking about snuggling under the quilt to watch Grey’s Anatomy. Speaking of which, I really hope that Meredith gets herself some anti-depressants soon.
