blue is a nice colour

Blue is a nice colour but not a nice feeling.

I am feeling rather annoyed today, having realised (faced) the truth. I think these last few days of feeling crappy and not being bothered to do much have not been an illness coming on but it looks like a depressive episode. I feel so angry about this as I really thought that this wasn’t going to be happening any more. I have had six or seven months of feeling great and now this.

Previously when this happened, my instinct is to curl up and withdraw (as much as possible with kids) but I am going to try hard to resist that. I don’t know, they sound like big words and it may be too hard. We will see.

This (almost) daily blogging has been a happy side effect of no more depression but I am going to try hard to keep it up now that I am in the groove. Even if I don’t say much I can at least post a picture and I am going to try hard to keep doing something creative on a regular basis. I am going to try really hard to get some exercise in (walking) and not to sleep/lay around all the time during the day.

On a happier note, my shop RED INSTEAD handmade was featured over at Indie Quarter recently! Thanks so much.

HI- I hope you dont miond me stopping by. I think I found your blog while searching for sewing information. I loved your blog and sewing talk so much that I added your link- hope that is okay- I usually dont add people I dont know, but my newest obsession is fabric (I am a mixed media artist- there is a link on my blog to my art), and I just had to add a few fabric artists.

I felt compelled to comment. I get everything about what your post just said. About withdrawing with your kids into a comfy bubble for a bit. I dont want to get into a heavy discussion, but Im sure you know so many people feel like you and withdrawing is something I also do. It is a struggle to NOT to do it and this time of year is almost impossible anyway.

Just thought Id say that and good luck. You are an amzingly talented artist and I look forward to seeing your creations.

I think your depressions are hormone related. The “change” doesn’t come all at once when we are “old.” I can relate to how you feel and I can’t even tolerate myself when I’m down. On the bright side….. in 7-10 days you will be back to your normal bouncing, bubbling self again. Don’t try to fight it, go along with it, ride it through, it’s easier for you and those around you, trust me. I isolate myself, others know to keep their distance and as long as I stay away from others we all survive. Your hormones are in control and controlling you…..nothing can be done about it, hormones really do govern us women.
