analog artlog
Happy Birthday to me! Today I turned 36 and I had a great day. I woke up to cuddles and kisses from my husband and children and got a couple of lovely books and some bath fizzies from the kids. Sam (13) was home and back in bed catching up on sleep while Paul and the little ones and I went shopping so that I could choose something nice for myself of the new clothing variety.
Paul took the kids to the toy sections of KMart and Target while I went to stacks of Young People’s clothes shops and found that I was the wrong shape or too old or too daggy or too broke and that I had nowhere to wear any of the stupid clothes anyhow. Then I realised why God gave us the fashion sections of KMart and Target - I was hoping for something a little more upmarket for my birthday, but hey I was getting desperate by now. I was very annoyed to still not find anything I wanted or that fit or wasn’t too expensive. So I made a smart move and went to the bookstore instead. BINGO!
So for my birthday my lovely husband got me a blank art journal and a great book to go with it. When I got home I did the first page in my new journal and have high hopes for some fun with this present!

I am calling it my Analog Artlog (not a weblog) and I am going to use it for drawing, doodling, sketching, writing, creating, cutting, pasting and making art.
One thing I really want to use it for is to try out different art techniques that I read about and then write myself some little notes to remember what I did.
Oh and for my birthday, my mum knitted me some great socks! I have read about these stripy knitted socks that everyone is hooked on and now I have my own pair. They are warm and lovely. Thanks Mum!
I must learn how to knit with those strange circular needles one of these days.

[...] I thought that the competition was extended until today and I assumed that meant the end of today ie. midnight. I can’t find anything to say what time it should end. I am really bummed. I don’t suppose I can slip this in late - it’s 10.30 on the 18th and it’s my birthday and I really wanted to get this into the competition. I hope you understand. here is my link just in case: http://www.jenleheny.com/archives/178 [...]

Happy birthday and Target clothes are great (but crafting stuff is even greater!). I often hit paydirt in Valley Girl/ Temt (especially the Belconnen Mall store. This is in past tense since all the clothes I’ve bought this year have been from Boutique Vinnies
Sorry forgot to add the link to the tutorial that cleared up the myth of circular knitting for me: http://www.stitchdiva.com/custom.aspx?id=105

I’ve just started a pair of socks (my first) with that stripey yarn. I’m knitting them on a set of four needles. It’s quite exciting to see the pattern form as you knit.
