hi there. I’m Jen Leheny. You probably figured that out already due to the domain name, huh?

I’m 36 and happy but busy. I have a great studio workroom and a house I really enjoy and a garden that needs lots of work. I have 3 great kids - Sam is 14, Jack is 5 and Emma is 3.

Sam is my stepson (who lives with us) and has Asperger’s Syndrome. He is a brilliant artist and is writing a novel right now. Yep.

Jack is very boisterous and asks a million questions a day and is in First Grade this year. He looks so big in his school uniform!

Emma is gorgeous and mostly leaves her hair elastics in when I put her hair up in pigtails. She talks a lot and loves to eat.

My husband is Paul. It still sounds nice to say that - we only got married a year ago even though we’ve been together for almost ten years! He is wonderful and we make a great team!

I am pretty focussed on my work - which is creating things, mostly with my sewing machine. It gives me a great creative outlet and of course it feels good when people buy something you have made. I think I keep so busy cos I thrive on it. It keeps me sane even if it drives me crazy at the same time!

I also like to take photos, though I don’t have much time for that right now. Well, not for serious shots anyhow. I take lots of images of things I have made! And I am learning about painting and illustration and I have a million things I want to do but not enough time.

I can barely talk on the phone without the two little ones bothering me! It’s fun but frustrating at times too. I love how everything is going though.

Red Instead is actually just Jen Leheny, an at home mum… but she likes to talk about herself in the third person and she likes to give the impression that she is a big company. Once upon a time she wanted to be a big company but now she has changed her focus, enjoying it all more and is very happy with how it is all going. Thank you very much.
