SNAP!

Hi! Are you a new or recent visitor to my blog? I hope you stick around and have a bit of a read. To make it easier to keep up to date with new content, please subscribe to my RSS feed. Of course, feedback is always appreciated and leaving a comment is a great way for me to come and check out your site.

On Monday night I went ice skating with some friends from work (my part-time job at a bakery) and it was such a blast!  I hadn’t been for at least 15 years I think. I started slow and shaky until it came back to me - I was around for the massive roller skating craze way back when and I don’t think you ever forget.  After a while I got my confidence up and started zooming around really fast… until SPLAT! and SNAP!

Yes I have broken my right arm.  Apparently my fall was very spectacular - flying through the air, coming down with a big thud and then sliding across the ice for 3 metres.  All I know is it HURT a LOT!

So, anyway things will be a little tricky for a while around here…

brokenarm

It hurts like hell.  There is a possibility that I may have broken my right wrist too but we are waiting on further x-rays.  So I have rented a stack of DVDs and resigned myself to not doing much for a while.

I am getting good at typing left handed and I’m not so wonky with the mouse now either!  You try it - it’s hard!  :)

Pen and Ink

I recently tried out a new medium - pen and ink and I loved it!

pen and ink

The inks are available in such wonderful bright colours and the black is rich and gorgeous too.

Some quick doodles and a colourful swirly tree.

You can use the inks with a dip pen or with a paintbrush for such bright and beautiful effect.  Wow!

Sewing themed lino prints

I am behind in my posting - I completed these a couple of weeks ago actually but I’m only now getting around to chronicling now.

I first talked about these in this previous post here and here they are printed and mounted on bright orange paper.

Both of these images were inspired by illustrations from a vintage sewing book - I would like to add to the series with a few more sewing inspired prints.

They even appeared in my analog artlog:

I do really enjoy the lino carving and printing and the look of the prints.  I have to make time to do a few more!

I recently got my hands on some of those carving blocks (”eraser” carving) so expect some of those soon too.  Check out this flickr group for some amazing and wonderful eraser carving art.
