Of course, feedback is always appreciated and leaving a comment is a great way for me to come and check out your site.

I’m back from a great night away in Brisbane for my husband’s work Christmas Party. Lots of free alcohol, good food and great people to chat to all night. It was lots of fun. It’s my 4th year so I know most of the people now and there are always a few new people to get to know.

Free BBQ Apron PatternWe got back on Saturday evening and now that we have both recovered from being sick, we spent Sunday cleaning up the house and then I had to tackle the work room - my cutting table had become a bit of a dumping ground and it took ages to tidy up. I have quite a few orders to work on, as well as Christmas presents to sew for family and friends so I have to get busy! My dad has requested a BBQ apron so I did a quick google and found this free n easy pattern. I love the internet! :)

Getting away from it all…

What’s been happening over the last week? Well, myself, my husband and my three kidlets have all been sick over the last week or two. Not very good scheduling I must say! The house has gotten progressively messy - even more so than usual! Anyway we are all on the mend now, save the coughing and spluttering. At least the laying around and groaning is over with.

Shangri-La Hotel, SydneyOn a brighter note, Paul and I (sick though we were) nicked off to Sydney for a glamourous quick holiday last weekend. The thing was that my brother and two cousins got together to buy us a voucher to a very nice hotel - the Shangri-La in Sydney - which we received almost a year ago as a late wedding present. Due to too many children and not enough money, we hadn’t gotten up there all year and the voucher was fast about to expire. (In fact it did and I had to call up and get it extended!)

So off we went for a night of fun and adventure and it was great! Highlights included a (rather tame) pub crawl from Surry Hills where we used to live back to the hotel. It was so great to visit so many of the pubs and bars that we used to enjoy when we lived in Surry Hills a few years ago. We had dinner at Thai Tha Pho on Crown Street which was just as good as ever, and then walked along the familiar streets, stopping for a drink here and there along the way, including the Clock Hotel and what used to be the Elephant’s Foot and then over to the Cricketer’s Arms and a few others I forget. With all the walking and not being well, I was getting very wheezy and coughing a lot and was onto the water by about the 4th pub. So in the end we walked down the hill and checked in at the George St cinema and saw a movie - Flight Plan with Jodie Foster.

Moet & Chandon Champagne I haven’t even told you the best part yet - we were on about the 28th floor of the hotel and the view was fantastic! We had a huge suite and there were very large windows with windowsills that were about 30cm (a foot) wide and if you stood and leaned forward and put your forehead on the glass and looked down you could see a million cars going over the Harbour Bridge and back. It was amazing.

But the best bit was the huge bathroom with a bath that had a huge window right next to it so you could look out while drinking your complimentary Moet and eating chocolate covered strawberries. I won’t tell you what else we got up to in that bath!

And just because we enjoyed getting away so much, we are off to Brisbane this weekend! Another all expenses paid trip - Paul’s work head office is up in Brisbane so they fly all their outposted consultants and partners up at this time each year for the work Christmas Party and put us up in a hotel.

I wonder if anyone will sponser us to go somewhere else the next weekend?

Retro Canvases

I drew these freehand and then cut a stencil and painted them onto calico and then staple-gunned them to some square canvases.
